Day 5 on the road: Yellowstone NP – Spokane, WA.

We started of with an unsuccessful attempt at witnessing Old Faithful. Being too impatient to wait the 70 minutes before the geyser was expected to go off again, we took this very anticlimactic picture of us beside the steaming geyser. No offense to those who love Yellowstone, but we didn't feel that we missed too much.

We were feeling a little road weary when we arrived in Spokane. We were happy to eat dinner at a Mexican restaurant, Rancho Viejo, with Aunt Rosemary (Rosie), Dad’s sister, and enjoy an evening of socializing. Rosie’s dog, Merri, kept us entertained with her antics, and Dad and Rosemary each took a turn at playing the piano. Dad and I both decided to sleep inside, leaving Thomas alone in the camper. The result was that, for the first time on the trip, we all slept well. It will be interesting to see what’s in store for us on the long trek from Vancouver, B.C., to Homer, AK, when we have no alternative but to all sleep in the camper together. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the furnace won’t shut off in the middle of the night, since we’ll need all the heat we can get (even with all the hot air in the camper).

  1. I guess you'll have to visit Roger Geiser's "G & S Titanium" in Wooster OH, to see a geyser!
