Day 4 on the road: Williston, ND – Yellowstone National Park, WY.

Stopping over in Yellowstone was a bit of a detour from our Alaska route, but the scenery, especially the drive in through Bear Tooth Pass on Route 212, made it worth it. By the time we got to our campsite we’d been on the road about 10 hours, and Anna’s plans of making a campfire were thwarted by the no-wood-fire policy. Fortunately, we were permitted to use our Coleman stove, and thus we were able to eat a meal of potatoes and pork n beans. Nothing glamorous, but we were just grateful for sustenance at that point.

We have become increasingly aware of what amateur RVers we are. When we’re parked next to all the glamorous 50-foot RVs that are nicer than our homes (at least Anna’s and Thomas’s – keep in mind that we do live in a renovated chickenhouse!) Although Peter has been obsessing about this trip for weeks, nothing trumps experience.
